Accessibility
A website for every visitor
We want everyone who loves an animal to be able to use this site, whatever device, ability or assistive technology they bring.
Our commitment
Care that starts before you walk in
The same welcome you get at our front desk should be here online. We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard most accessibility laws and guidelines point to.
Accessibility is never finished, so we check the site as it changes and fix what we find. If something gets in your way, please tell us. Your note helps the next visitor too.

What we have done
- Text and buttons meet WCAG contrast levels, measured, not guessed
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline
- Photos carry text descriptions for screen readers
- Headings and landmarks give each page a clear outline
- Animations stop when your device asks for reduced motion
- The homepage slideshow has a pause button
- Text can be enlarged to 200% without losing content
- Form fields are labeled, and errors say what to fix

Where we fall short
A few parts of the site come from outside services or older files, and we cannot always change how they behave:
- The pet portal and appointment requests are hosted by AllyDVM, not by us. If either gives you trouble, call or text us and we will book or answer for you.
- Printable patient forms are PDF files, which not every screen reader handles well. We are happy to go through any form with you by phone, or at your visit.
- Some older blog articles came across from our previous website, and a few of their photos have shorter descriptions than we would like.
- Embedded videos play from YouTube, whose captions are generated automatically and are not always accurate.
Need a hand?
Tell us, and we will help
If any part of this website is hard to use, or you need information in another format, call or text us, or send a note through our contact form. Tell us the page and what happened, and we will get you what you need and fix the page.

In their words
The hearts we’ve touched
“I arrived with a bag of pills and not much hope for Fina’s quality of life. Dr. Strickfaden listened, and within weeks my German Shepherd was on the road to recovery.”
“Years ago when all other vets gave up on my older dog Katy, Dr. Strickfaden got her back to agility competition form with acupuncture. I’m a big fan!”
“Countrycare Animal Complex is what I wish for all pets. Your compassion and genuine caring makes all the difference. Duke is a happy dog because of you.”
“Everyone there was great — from making the appointment to the vet tech to our vet. Everyone was super friendly and nice. They took their time. We didn’t feel rushed. We were very happy and grateful to the staff.”
“Dr. Heintz was so gentle and compassionate with our dog. The vet tech was so kind and understanding with all of the questions that I asked her. They made me feel comfortable with the decisions that we made for Maddie.”
